Building Trust and Accountability through Human Rights Dialogue



The project aims to strengthen trust between communities and institutions by improving the protection of human rights and increasing the accountability of public institutions towards citizens.

It promotes inclusive dialogue with civil society, enhances transparency, and enables citizens to actively participate in decision-making processes, thereby reducing tensions and strengthening the rule of law in northern and other parts of Kosovo.

Main Activities

  • Organizing seminars within the Cooperation Forum between the Ombudsperson Institution (OiK) and civil society.

  • Visits and monitoring of detention centers to prevent torture and improve institutional response, accompanied by a conference on the topic.

  • Public consultations on legislative processes, particularly regarding the Law on the Prohibition of Discrimination.

  • Roundtables on priority human rights issues (minority rights, gender equality, LGBTI+ rights, police accountability).

  • Trainings for civil society organizations in the field of human rights.

Expected Results

  • Strengthened role of the Ombudsperson Institution and civil society in protecting and promoting human rights.

  • Improved institutional response to human rights violations and detention conditions.

  • Active involvement of local communities in legislative changes and decision-making.

  • Increased public awareness and dialogue on sensitive human rights issues.
