As part of the project “Youth Empowered through Inclusive Schools and Societies (YESS)”, funded by the UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund and implemented by UNICEF and IOM Kosovo, youth from different municipalities across Kosovo continued strengthening cooperation through cultural exploration, nature-based activities, environmental actions, and sports events.
Following two successfully implemented multiethnic youth camps, participants expanded their collaboration by organizing a series of youth-led initiatives designed to promote trust, unity, and shared community engagement.
Cultural Exploration: Youth groups visited Ordo Drakonis in Gračanica, where they explored medieval traditions, archery, and stories of cultural heritage that bring communities together through shared history.
The second excursion brought a group of participants to the Gadime Cave, where they discovered its unique marble formations and reflected on the importance of nature preservation and responsible tourism.
Community Contribution: Several youth groups organized clean-up actions across, focusing on riverbanks, green zones, and shared public spaces. Through teamwork and joint effort, young people contributed to a cleaner environment while raising awareness about the importance of environmental protection and collective responsibility.
Sports for Uniy: Recognizing the power of sports to bridge differences, youth groups organized 3x3 basketball tournaments, fostering fair play, solidarity, and healthy competition. These events provided a fun and engaging way for young people to connect, build friendships, and promote values of teamwork and mutual respect.
Across all activities — cultural excursions, nature exploration, environmental campaigns, and sports — young people demonstrated strong leadership, creativity, and a shared commitment to cooperation. By working together, they strengthened mutual trust, developed new friendships, and contributed to creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment in their communities.
