During the conference, three policy papers focusing on the functioning of local self-governments, the work of the Kosovo Police and environmental protection in northern Kosovo were presented. Based on research and analysis of the current situation, the papers aim to identify key challenges and provide concrete recommendations for improving institutional performance.
Ognjen Gogić presented the policy papers focusing on local self-governments and the Kosovo Police. Speaking about local governance, he highlighted challenges related to transparency, access to information, citizen participation in decision-making and perceptions of corruption. The analysis of the Kosovo Police presented findings related to public trust, police professionalism and impartiality, equal treatment, complaint mechanisms and relations between the police and local communities.
Ljubiša Mijačić presented the policy paper on environmental protection, with particular emphasis on corruption risks, institutional responsibilities and the need for greater transparency, more effective oversight and better cooperation among responsible institutions.
Following the presentations, participants discussed the key findings and recommendations, as well as opportunities for their practical implementation. The conference provided a platform for representatives of institutions, experts, civil society and citizens to exchange views on ways to improve institutional accountability and strengthen public trust.
